Our Ethos

We aim to empower residents to make their own choices about how they live their lives. We believe that every individual, irrespective of their physical, social or psychological condition has the right to be treated with dignity and respect and supported to maintain choice and control over their own lives.

We understand that people bring with them a life story of achievements, events and life experiences. We know that this information is essential to ensure a tailored care package for each individual’s specific needs, particularly for those with memory loss.

Where the resident has medical conditions, they are supported to obtain all multi-disciplinary services and arrangements for appointments.

We ensure that our person-centred assessments are all tailored to the whole person and we will look at what people can do, not just what they need assistance with. Most importantly we ensure that the individual themselves and their loved ones help us to put together a bespoke plan of care. We appreciate how difficult the decision is to move into permanent or even short stay care and we aim to make this transition as easy as possible.

Our Culture

We are proud of our traditions which are so often forgotten in the pace of modern life. Sydmar Lodge is a Jewish home that is very flexible and welcomes everyone regardless of religious observance. We prefer to leave it up to residents to follow the level of observance according to personal and family traditions. Sydmar Lodge has forged strong links with the local community, with regular visits from schools, charity groups and the Synagogue.

All major Jewish festivals are marked with traditional meals and ceremonies. Residents are invited to lead in Kiddush. In this way we can give residents the opportunity to live in a traditional environment to their own level of observance with which they are comfortable and familiar.

Sydmar Lodge is named the original owners of this family run business headed up by Sydney and Mary Reback. At Sydmar Lodge we seek to continue residential care services with family values, supporting people who require care and support throughout their older year.
