TESTIMONIALS

My mother was in the care of Sydmar Lodge from March 2016 until the time of her passing in August 2018, 6 days short of her 101st birthday. I have nothing but praise for, the management; the staff; the facilities; the food, indeed everything. My mother received the finest care and love from everyone at Sydmar. If ever there were (minor) issues, the management and staff were always attentive to them and pro-active to ensure suitable remedy. My mother’s end was (mercifully) quick. However, when the hospital did believe they could release my mother back to the home, if they would accept her, to manage her end of life, there was no hesitation and even insistence that my mother should be in familiar surroundings and with familiar faces. I found this extremely moving. I was expecting Sydmar to say (quite reasonably) that it would be best for my mother to be transferred to a hospice. This attitude exemplifies the care and consideration given at Sydmar Lodge. Residents are treated as family.

“My mother was resident June 2012 and December 2015. Subsequently, my father was a resident from November 2014 and continues to be a resident. I am impressed by the current management team, the food and the entertainment.

“My mother has been here nearly five years and has received excellent care and nursing. The staff are very helpful and informative and any medical issues have been dealt with very professionally. The entertainment and activities are very impressive and my mother always seems happy. I always recommend the home.

“My mother has been resident here for almost 6 1/2 years. Her dementia has progressed but she is loved and cared for by the staff with tenderness and dignity.

We could not have hoped for, nor find, better care. The care is beyond measure. Sydmar Lodge truly is a 'care home'.”

“Activities are excellent. Posting videos etc on the Facebook page (closed group) makes me feel closer to my mum. I can see her joining in and enjoying herself. Then when we speak, I know what she's talking about having seen it. Varied activities too. All staff very friendly and helpful. Always too hot for visitors but not for residents.

I'm really happy that mum just isn't left on her own all day.”

“Mum has been living at Sydmar Lodge now for over three years. She has Alzheimer's and now doesn't know any of us but when we visit these are her words 'It's marvellous here. The staff are so kind. The food is wonderful. If I couldn't be at my flat anymore, this is where I am safe and so well cared for'. I think that says it all. On behalf of the family, thank you for giving us complete peace of mind that Mum is well cared for, safe and as happy as she can be in her own little world.

“The management and staff are very approachable and very caring. The entertainment provided is excellent - at least twice a day if not three times a day, they also take them out for outings in their minibus every week.

They observe all the Jewish holidays and Shabbat every week.

It is very clean and they have a nice garden which they encourage the residents to use.

The food is also good and there is always a choice.”

“My mother moved to Sydmar Lodge around 10 months ago. When she came she was very miserable, she had lost her husband and she was moving from out of town to London to be near her family. She is 90 and was disoriented at first.
Soon after arriving, we watched her go from strength to strength. She feels safe with the carers and is always well looked after. She is always dressed well, clean and well presented. She is well fed and kept hydrated.

She enjoys going to the activities. If I think back to how she was only a few months ago, the improvement is remarkable.

Thank you Sydmar Lodge.”

“My Mother is now 93 years of age and has been in Sydmar Lodge for some years and we have been through several managers and owners in the past. My mother is frail and wheelchair-bound, with a very unusual form of dementia. She is a challenge for the staff and indeed for health carers in general due to her unusual condition.

I have found since the new manager took over that the home has improved enormously under her firm but caring guidance. The staff are professional and attentive to all the Residents and the care is absolutely wonderful. My Mother is always immaculate, groomed, and attended to. Her dietary requirements are seen to and her challenging behaviour is well met.

The Home is a warm, caring welcome place to be. The Residents are the priority with all employees and I have no doubt that my Mother's care is the main factor in her continued well-being and I am very grateful for them. I would not wish her to be anywhere else at this stage in her life. Thank you.”

“My mother has been in the home since my father passed in May 2015 and she has been treated respectfully and professionally in all aspects.

The staff go the extra mile and are all professional and caring whether nursing or administration staff. The member of staff in charge of activities always goes the extra mile and is a huge asset to the home.

Well done!!

I have recommended this home to a relative as I find it is run in an extremely efficient manner.

“My Dad worked until almost 90 but sadly has a form of dementia which limits many aspects of his life. With limited speech he still has a reasonable memory and is very aware of his surroundings and people caring for him.

Our family have been on a long journey looking for good quality care. We have learned that beautiful decor doesn't necessarily equate to high standards.

At Sydmar Lodge the team are beyond patient, calm and kind. They always treat my Dad with respect and try their hardest to understand everything he is attempting to say. They remain upbeat even when events are incredibly trying which of course they often are. Above all they try to make those at the home feel secure and most important of all, happy. Happiness in these situations should be a given but it is all too often very rare. The home is well run, the care carefully managed and unusually they also have a coordinator who as a brilliant pianist really brightens up the day. I can only highly recommend it.”

“I am very happy with the care and support that my mother receives. I always find her happy and more importantly clean and respectable. Mum loves going out and the Activities Coordinator has been very helpful and looks after my mother on frequent afternoon trips. The staff at the home work hard and often under difficult conditions - but this never stops them smiling or passing the time of day and visitors and residents.

“Very friendly staff and carers. They all clearly do everything they can to help and understand the needs and wishes of the residents and treat them with respect. The lounges and the dining room are very spacious and the carers intermingle with the residents whenever possible. All pretty impressive with clearly strong management in-place.

“We as a family find them wonderful. They are very caring and unbelievably kind. Now that my mother-in-law has become increasingly debilitated they are giving her superlative care. They are all very warm hearted and she responds to this. The management is amazing always working out what will make her feel better together with the carers. Today they got to walk which is incredible. Since her stroke in August, she has been confined to her bed and it was unlikely she would walk again. Due to their determination, encouragement and love at Sydmar Lodge they got her walking today. We are overwhelmed.

“I have found my time here as being almost on holiday. Staff are wonderful, everything is done to help me. I sold my 50-year-old house to live here and do not regret it. Food is good, most of the time, but sometimes is a bit too much. They do their best to keep us entertained, particularly the male staff. One in particular, is marvellous. Would recommend it. First class. Entertainer a bit expensive but no choice.

“Sydmar Lodge's staff were absolutely fantastic with my Mother who had to go there for 5 week's respite whilst her kitchen was being fixed after she had a flood. I had very little time to sort out respite care for her and phoned Sydmar Lodge since it was fairly local to where my Mother lives. >From the moment I spoke to the Manager, I knew my Mum would be in safe hands. My Mother was unsure about going into a care home but as she is a frail 81-year-old she needed to be looked after. My Mother and I went to view Sydmar Lodge to see the room she was going to be assigned to and we were taken around by the lovely Deputy Manager who answered all our questions and made my Mum feel at home. My Mum felt content although a little nervous and a few days later she moved in for respite care. She absolutely loved it, every member of the staff were excellent and the food was of high quality. She also loved the entertainment and joined in. She didn't want to come home!
